The City of Gold
Located about 100 km west of Bangkok, Suphanburi is another beautiful and scenic city in central Thailand rich in both culture and history. Suphanburi was an important border town involved in ancient battles with the neighbouring Burmese armies in the period of the Ayutthaya kingdom in old Siam. Its history still shows in the present day in its gorgeous sprawling temples and monuments dedicated to the role the town played in the past. Surrounded by small mountain ranges to both the north and the west, the province of Suphanburi plays an important part in the farming industry of Thailand, producing a wide variety of vegetables as well as sugarcane and rice. As such, the area is full of stunning and lush fields set in the valleys of the surrounding mountains above.
